Sorry I know it's not Fiat but thinking they mostly are the same vans! Anyway this 2018 boxer van has suffered some kind of electrical failure under the bonnet drivers side inner wing so some melted plastics which include the wiper panel below the windscreen and some melting to the plastic around the front wheel, I just wondered what is in that area that could cause this damage? The engine is intact van has 110k miles, I have only seen a brief video of this damage.

Thanks for any info

Ronnie

I would have a thorough inspection before handing any money over as if electrical the damage within wiring etc. can go much further than first apparent.
Even melted plastics can be expensive to buy from dealer if no second hand available.
Just a thought is it an insurance claim job as if so it may have been written off by the insurance company which will be another problem, even after repaired it can affect price if you sell it later.

Thanks for the response, yeah it’s unknown if it’s had an insurance claim, seller said it had a reconditioned engine just before the fire! I thought 110k was low to need an engine?

Before I think about looking at it was hoping to find out what is in that area? Fuse box, ecu or engine loom etc?

Cheers Ronnie

All I have to go on at the moment is a 2010 Scudo LWB which on the drivers side under bonnet has a large fusebox etc. ECU is on passenger side.
There should be someone here on Forum with Ducato version if you can give them further details.
The only thing I would say is if it is a trader he will have checked out thoroughly if there was a chance of making a profit by retailing it.;)

It’s a non starter after the fire but I noticed the vdu on dash was still
Lighting up in the video, I would have thought for safety the battery would have been disconnected lol

Yeah I have a Ducato but a 2002 so no comparison to 2018 model lol,

It priced cheap and a nice straight van but I have lots of questions for the seller before making a trip to view it, it’s a private sale apparently

Is there any mention of it being an insurance claim ?

There’s not a lot on that side that could catch fire , just h/light wiring, wiper motor horn
