iam having a string petrol smell inside the car! any help would be appreciated.

Hi

Two most common things

1 - New petrol cap
2 - Pipe from the tank to the cap, check the connections boths ends.

Take the panel off from behind the seat.

Spot on..

Mine has been down to my friendly local garage today to get this sorted, it was (2) the breather pipe. Phew.. lot cheaper than a new fuel tank!

Looking forward to a petrol-whiff free driving experience from now on (y)

Cheers,

Mine gets this from time to time. My B has an uncanny habit of repairing itself though. Walking in a FIAT wonderland.

Another point to look out for is inside the rear wheel arch. On our Punto HGHT the multitude of breather hoses that congretate around the main tank filler tube had become/were inadequately restrained an one of the hoses had crept forward to then be rubbed and worn through by the rear tyre.

We had petrol smells that initially we could not trace till I took the rear wheel off and closely examined all the pipes in that area.

I had a petrol smell a couple of years ago in my Marea, so strong I had to drive with all the windows open at one point. Took it to the garage and it turned out to be loose jubilee clips on the pipes taking petrol to and from the injection fuel rail. The garage tightened them up and is now petrol wiff free (y)
