Hi Andy,

You don't say how bad the leak is but in my experience ALL Cinq 1108's leak from the rocker seal (I've had three of them!) It can be fixed easily by fitting a good quality gasket £6-£8 from Halfords - the rocker cover is only held on with four bolts and p1ss easy to fit.

As for the petrol smell, they all do that too but you should start by checking the pipe that runs from the filler to the tank and seeing if there are leaks, then lift the rear seat and open the access panel to check the fuel tank connections and pump supplies which leaves replacing the filler cap as the other most likely fix.

Gasket is £3.90 from Fiat and buy some gasket sealer from halfrauds and it should be under an hour at a leisurely pace, maybe get some degreaser and rags to clean up the oil too! You could try brake cleaner too, with the cover still on though.

As you may have noticed, I live on a small God-forsaken rock off the Welsh west coast and the rocker cover gasket I bought from my local auto factors was 14.85 Europeans plus VAT. Good call on the sealant too, oh and spray the rocker cover to match the car while it is off and you will make the engine bay all nice and pretty....
