Punto (Mk2/2b) Penny Punto (Mk2 Active 1.2L 8V)

Introduction

I've been slowly working away at my Mk2 Punto (my first car), so I though it was time I added a members motors thread. Introducing... Penny Punto :D

Tidy car you've got right there buddy (y)
I used Flyeye's on mine and it came out looking sound, so nice one there!
The "Brighter headlight bulbs (but still legal)" have you got in mind the Xeno Bulbs? or HID's?
Lowering shouldn't be that difficult, but I'd recommend Coilovers (y)
The seats shouldn't be that difficult to color, but i'd look out for some Alfa 147 Seats, those are the sh*t.
The wrapping and roofing idea sounds interesting :chin:

Love to see what's happens next for this Punto, keep us posted! (y)

Cheers man (y)

Not sure about bulbs yet, but is something I want to get done before my 400 mile trek to Scotland in a few weeks!

Alloys and lowering is something I'll be doing myself (if I do it at all!), but for the sake of funds/insurance implication it may have to wait until after my gap year.

I've been keeping eyes open for decent condition/price 147 seats, just a little concerned about the apparent complexity of fitting the rear ones.

And I got the idea for wrapping on here actually, someone has done it already. Might have to Photoshop something to see how it looks ;)

Flyeyes, LED interior lights and a few other bits should be done in the next week or so, so I'll keep on updating this thread (y)

UPDATE: New boot light LEDs and Flyeye tints

The new boot lights were more for convenience than anything else - if I'm getting something out of the boot quite late/very early in the day, the single bulb in there just isn't enough to light it properly. 48 white LEDs ought to do the trick :slayer:. They don't look too impressive in the photos below as they're taken in broad daylight - I'll put up one taken at night when it gets dark enough out.

The Flyeye tints could be slightly neater, but they look damn good if you're not up too close :D

UPDATE: New boot lights, in the dark

A little info for anyone interested: these are just 2 of the LED strips sold for cars (I got 2 on eBay for less than £3, just search "12v LED strip"), stuck under the speaker covers with some double sided foam pads and wired directly into the 12V that used to power the single bulb in there.

Lights looking sick mate, those fly eye tints are tidy! (y)
Well done bro, cars all coming together now (y) You've inspired me to have a go at changing my lights :chin: like Deekstar said, "Candle Power" pieces of sh*t. Are they on permanently? If they turn on when the Ignition is a click in, that would be pretty clever (y)

Pretty sure he said they was wired in to the original wiring,so my guess is that they come on when the boot opens (y)(y)

Pretty cool mod though may consider doing it myself :slayer:

That's smart. :chin: Me being a sausage, i would of just stuck it straight to the battery. Herr derr.
Defiantly something that needs doing, the interior light needs doing, mine is just pitiful. :yuck:(n)

Hi , iv gt same model of punto and want to change the air filter for a K&N cone but wonder whether its best to take of entire air box or just take out original and stick the cone on the pipe leading out. What is probably best.

Fiatpuntomk2b is right - they go into the wiring from the old boot light, so they only come on when the boot is open. Took all of 5 minutes to install and cheap as well (less than £3!) so well worth doing!

Also Joshhh - the new interior light should have come through the post by now, so I'll post a picture once I get it installed (will be Tue/Wed, staying with the girlfriend until then).

I like the boot lighting alot!!

i had some point considered strips on the actual parcel shelf, but decided against due constantly knocking it off its runners

Also the Reversing Kit - How easy / Hard was it to install?

Ziggy

I was originally going to add a third strip in the middle of the shelf, but it was a pain a) to hide the wiring and b) because I take the shelf out now and then for various reasons.

The reversing kit was pretty easy to put it - took maybe 3-4 hours, but a lot of that was wrestling the bumper off the car. I put a guide online here: https://www.fiatforum.com/punto-guides/302396-fitting-reversing-beeper-sensors-punto-mk2.html

Ohh sound lad, i brought 2 strips from eBay for about £3, i'll have a go when they come (y) It's only till i looked for the light i found it, in the dark it's so useless. (n)
If they are bright i'll get some for the footwell (y) Could you post the link for the bulb/light when you get the picture up please? I'd appreciate it lad (y)

Mine are very bright - the photo doesn't really do it justice; they light up the whole boot to near-daylight.

Back at home now and the new interior bulb and second set of LED lights have arrived, so I'll be fitting them tomorrow and putting a pic online. Until then, old bulb vs. new bulb:

UPDATE: Boot lights have already been reinstalled - ended up replacing the sticky pads with hot glue after the passenger side fell down and I decided I didn't want that happening around the pedals!

It's also dark now, so I can get some decent photos...

Around dusk kinda time:

And then later in actual darkness:

Edit: in the second photo the footwell lights overpower the interior light - it's not really that dark in the rest of the car!
