Styling parcel shelf has a reinforced bar?!..help!

hi, I just went to fit my 6-9's in my new punto and i just realised that the parcel shelf is reinforced with a bar down middle. what do i do?! please help i let me know what you done in similar situation. i have 1.2 16v sporting mk2 v reg. thanks

either cut through it with a jigsaw might damage the underside a bit or take the pole out completly but it might sag a bit.

my brother took his pole out and the one side is a bit saggy, i cut through the pole with a jigsaw and its fine.

cut through it....but its metal..will a jigsaw go through metal? they never make these cars for people to fit amps, subs and 6-9s in do they! haha

i have 2 sets of speakers on my parcel shelf and i cut through it with a jigsaw i used a few blades and it only sags slightly u might find it bounces when ur on un even road that what mine does so i think im gunna make one out of wood!

yeh i might give that a go making one before i attempt to cut through it. my mate made on for his escourt so ill get him to help me haha!

the guy that fitted my 6x9s moved them into the middle a bit more so not to cut through the bar...dont look that bad i dont think....if you can see em

Yeah i did the same on my punto the bar is intact. Idealy you want to leave intact to reduce stupid vibrating noises as much as possible.

the surround plates of my 6 by 9s must be bigger as i couldnt fit them without removing the bar. so iv just made one out of wood put the speakers in that and covered it with some black material. looks good! just got try fix it down a bit to stop it jumping when i drive.

Surely the easier option (but more expensive) is just to buy a stealth shelf for the car, that way you get a shelf thats designed to take the speakers and is good for the accoustics.

Buy one while you have a car they make one for, im stuck with a stilo who no one makes anything for!
