Technical Panel filter and cold air feed

Hi. Iv'e been having a read into induction kits and for a 1.1 punto, a panel filter would be better than an induction kit (bar GSR induction). Would a vipercross filter be any good or have you any recommendations?

The real question is if I modify the standard airbox to have cold air feeding into it, with a performance panel filter, would that be better powerwise/economywise or is it not worth the bother? Thats all an induction kit does is it?

You are correct a panel filter would have a better result than an induction kit, mainly because hot air can still be sucked in with induction kits, especially whilst sitting in traffic or idling. If you are looking for power gains probably it would be better to fit a pipercross panel filter, and put an exhaust system on.
