Re: Panda Ebay Thread

The Panda is a 1000CL and I won it at £36.

However the seller is pressing for payment by paypal before I can see the V5 to check it is legit. They won't even let my brother look at it to assess how we get it home. - This worries me.

So my brother went round anyway and had a quick look and it is a bit tatty - which I expected. He told me the drivers seat is completely worn through. One or threads left across the seat. Both doors are starting to rust and one wheel arch is starting to bubble up. :( He didn't get as far as checking sills and in the wheel arches, as the man came out and was a bit obstructive.

Now I know I bid to buy & not to look, but I have to check it is what is says it is.

I had asked:
Q: Are the seats/trim in good condition? Rips?
A: "I would say fair not good, clean but some wear through on front seats"

Q: What rust does it have in the doors, boot or sills?
A: "No appreciable rust, specks here or there but these cars have a special treatment from FIAT no mention of this as a problem for MOT"

On ebay it is shown as: FIAT PANDA BIANCA BLUE
It is a: FIAT PANDA 1000CL
The Bianca had lots of options but I can't see that this has them.

So I am having second thoughts and might ask for a mutual withdraw on grounds of mis-representation.(n)

Since the interior is usless to me, and the engine won't match mine - do any of you guys want spares: glass sunroof, speaker pods, radio cassette, Trim: "bluely, redy lines on darkish blue background". i.e. is it worth rescuing

Hit or Miss ?

67k miles Blue 1000CL G reg 1990?
Since we can't try before we buy I can only go by the seller's answers:

Q: What is wrong with the engine
A: does run but you will probably need to get tuned to ensure the carbon emmission is up to scratch for the MOT,also starter motor will probably need replacing
Q: radiator?
A: leaking needs replacing or sealing
Q:How old are the tyres?
A: not sure but still well with legal tread [One tyre was flat]

Bonnet looks OK.
MoT expires Jan 07.
I'll ask about the door locks.

Will harper will probably have your engine!
Gearbox should be ok then!
Radiator is PROBABLY Heater matrix leak - I bet!!!!!!!

Take a couple of spare wheels when you go pick it up!
All pandas need tuning when bought of Ebay - ITALIAN TUNE-UP.
Sounds great! buy it! worth it for the windows or even the bonnet if it's good!!!!!! so stop pro-crastinatingand go and get it!!!!!!!!:bang: :bang: :bang: :bang:

Re: Panda Ebay Thread

You're right guys - I must accentuate the positive. :)

My bro' just didn't want to deal with the guy as he was a bit abrupt.
It just didn't feel right.

Before I drive it to a safer place:
I need a working temperature gauge - so it won't cook.
Spare water to top it up - radweld?
Tyres that hold air.

I can get temporary insurance for:
£8:20 /day from https://www.tempcover.com
£10:50 /day from https://www.dayinsure.com

A plan is starting to come together.

Re: Panda Ebay Thread

Thanks Panda Sport for that tip, I found the details at this link.:)

However the Panda I bought wasn't listed in the eBay Motors section.
I wonder if this is a problem. :(
Bizarrely it was listed in category: Cars, Parts & Vehicles > Car Tuning & Styling > Interior Styling > Floor Mats & Flooring

Were you obliged to take out insurance with Norwich after the 7 days?

I'm a Norwich Union customer too. I phoned them and they weren't helpful.

Panda Sport do you still have the contact details?

Well done, worth that for spares alone - and it is taxed and tested.

Taxed? It doesn't say anything about that in the eBay listing. If it is and it still has more than a month to run then it's definitely worth it. However, the seller is more likely to cash it in than leave it on. I've never heard of anyone insisting on the presentation of utility bills and passport for a private sale. He certainly has no right to insist on that. Perhaps he's one of those paranoid individuals who thinks everyone is out to get him or rip him off.

I thought that. Surely it should be the other way around. I need to check that they are the legitimate owner of the vehicle. The V5 address should match the sellers and their address.

However 'cos I'm a decent sort of chap, I'll show them mine if they show me theirs.;)

Re: Panda Ebay Thread

GO AND PICK IT UP BEFORE HE STRIPS ALL THE BEST BITS OFF IT!!!!!

Might be cheaper to insure it as a 2nd car.
My panda insurance is only £100 a year!!!!!! never mind £10 a day!!!!!!!

Re: Panda Ebay Thread

It's all gone base over apex.
My brother was all set to pick it up and deliver it when he had a family crisis.:( :( :(
Now he can't pick it up and nor can I.
So if there is anyone in North London wanting a Panda please PM me.

Bah Humbug!

Did that link work?

Anyway, FIat Panda DAnce, in Red, with 16k on clock - on www.autotrader.co.uk car is in Reading I believe...:)

£999! Wow! Mind you, I have seen a 750 go for over £600 on eBay. Does look immaculate though. Did they do a 999cc Dance or are they all 903cc (push rod)? I think I would want a nice 4 x 4 for a grand!
