Does the standard 4x4 (2012 >) have a sump/skid plate below the engine? My auction special does not have one.

My 2013 does, but these do rust quite badly, so I wouldn't be surprised if someone removed it
Suspicious since mines a 66 plate, Guessing it had some work and they couldnt be arsed putting it back on. Had a few underbody bumps today due to terrain so might need to look into an aftermarket one

@atronic It has to be removed to change the oil (six or eight easy-to-access bolts) - one time (long ago) the garage forgot to put mine back. But it certainly should be there and yes they all (except yours!) have one. A very substantial chunk of metal too... identical on both 4x4 and Cross - see here: https://www.fiatforum.com/threads/rusty-sump-guard.486312/post-4588444. Aftermarket hard to find: there are some that extend the original to also protect the plastic of the bumper, but I've never seen a non-Fiat complete replacement one.

Note the post 2012 4x4 'only' has 150mm of ground clearance, so go easy. the previous (2005-2012) model had 165, and the original first generation nearer 180mm. Its good at four wheel drive on mud and snow, but it's not so good when it comes to rocks or deep ruts.

Great info. Might have a bash at fabbing something up myself as mine is missing.
I 100% grounded lower than I thought I would, although it managed fine.

Sounds like the OEM was sh*t anyway!

Rather than removing for every oil change when mine was off the first time I cut a hole so the sump plug can be removed in future with the guard in situ. Only took a minute to cut then rustproof the bare edges.

@atronic I wouldn’t say the OEM is bad - mines seen a few hefty thumps and it’s stood up very well. But it does need to have the winter salt washed away carefully - just like anything else.
Ah good info. Any idea on a cost of replacing the OEM one? Would probably be easier replacing that then and pre treating it for rust before fitting it

If anyone finds a good source for replacements I’d be very keen to know. I am missing mine too and would like to get one installed.

Doesn't seem to be a common item. I am going to call Fiat on Monday, will let you know what I find out

Update : called Arnold Clark who searched the part and found it for £180. However the guy was convinced it was a plastic part and wouldn't give me the part number he had located. Emailed fiat UK, no response yet

I need to touch mine up so if I can see any numbers I'll post them, I slathered mine in stonechip so not hopeful.

OP is yours the twinair or diesel? Can't recall when they stopped doing the diesel.

Just checked OP's posts and seems he has a twinair, this is the number I found on eper - 51880561, you can see it bears no resemblance to the actual part - A quick image search brings up all manner of bits, but there is a picture of the guard in there.

If correct, that part number has been superseded: https://www.online-teile.com/fiat-ersatzteile/51880561_Protection.html?language=en
The revised number (if that was the right part) is here: https://www.online-teile.com/fiat-ersatzteile/52067074_.html - and its €260

However, Shop4Parts suggest they can obtain that part at a lower price https://www.shop4parts.co.uk/?name=store&op=Product&ProdID=34630

(Update: further Googling suggests yes, that is the correct part number - as shown here https://www.tscricambiusati.it/it/protezione-inferiore-sotto-motore-fiat-panda-4x4-cross-2016/ )
