A few months ago, I diagnosed my clutch slave cylinder on my 2007 Fiat Panda as knackered. Squeaking badly etc. Well after months of ignoring it last week it finally started properly sticking to the floor and not dis engaging so I’ve decided it’s finally time to replace it. I’m about to buy the slave cylinder, and saw online that you can get just the part without the Fiat quick release hydraulic lines and use the originals, as apparently the connectors can get very hard to remove after nearly 20 years.
My questions are , A do I need any DOT4 fluid to top up the reservoir? And to bleed the line? I’ve watched a couple of people do this on YouTube and one topped up the fluid, and another looked like they just bled a little out and didn’t top it up. If I need to, I’ll get some

You don't need much the whole of the system brakes abs and clutch is less than a litre

It will probably self bleed, as in open the bleed screw and the fuild will flow out removing any air via gravity,.the bleed screwe is normally a hex at the back

Brake fluid is corrosive if you spill any on any paintwork wash it immediately off with soapy water

My wife's 1.2 clutch operating lever squeaksIve dripped oil into the bush but it still does it. When I changed the clutch I tried to remove the lever but it looked like the top bush would get trashed. So stopped there and I fitted the new clutch. It still squeaks but you can't hear it inside the car.

Fitted the new slave cylinder today, a fairly easy job and bleeding it was straight forward. The old fluid in the reservoir looked a bit stale put it that way😆… as expected, the problem is solved. The old cylinder has absolutely zero resistance on the push rod, and you can freely push it in and out. I don’t know what causes that but it was long overdue.

Well done
