Technical Panda 1.1 Engine Management Light

Hi all,

Some advice please.

My neighbour has just bought a nice little 2007 Panda 1.1. It has just had a new cam belt and a new battery.

The issue is that the EML is on some of the time? The car drives fine and the light goes out if he restarts the car but then it soon comes back on.

I think it could be linked to the battery replacement particularly if the car was previously jump started?

Any thoughts or advice I could pass on would be much appreciated.

Check the battery terminals are clean where they contact and are tightly fixed.
Check the main earth lead is clean at the engine end.

Maybe the camshaft and crank are not correctly timed.

Thank you - now you mention it, I recall having to replace the earth lead on ours a few years ago, will pass that on

If the problem happened immediately after the cam belt fitting the car should go back to the garage for them to sort it out.
