Technical Palio engine swap

Hi guys, I am new here. I have a 2003 Fiat Palio 1.2 EL that has a compression leak on cylinder 1. I want to swap the 1.2 engine with a 1.6, my question is do I need to also change the gearbox for the car to run again?

Yes, you have to swap the whole thing, incl. drive axles, exhaust front pipe, ECU etc.
The 1,6 also uses heavier springs at front, but I don't know if the difference is noticeable..

thanks for the reply Peter. the drive axles I'll be changing to won't require different outer cv joints and steering knuckles?
