Punto (Mk2/2b) Pablo the punto

Introduction

Hi everyone, just sharing my new project, arrived Monday. I'm 16 and when all my mates got mo-peds, i thought it would be sensible to get a car (not my first, this will be my fifth fiat, had 2 tipo's, classic panda, seicento sporting and now this). I plan to fix the damage to the side (already purchased a wing, in need of a door), buy and fit alfa 147 leather seats as well as the sporting steering wheel, gear knob, air vents, buy fit a water temperature gauge, buy and fit hgt alloys, parcel shelf, repair all the little dents on the body work, angel eye headlights, new rear light as one is broken and then learn to drive in it. Any recommendations and questions are welcome and also are there any decent punto forums to register on?

scratches head
walks off......................................................

For the cost of fixing the wing you could probably buy another mk1 2001 punto, and again another one for the price of a set of genuine hgt wheels, no water temp gauge means its as basic as they come so I'd be inclined to scrap/sell it and buy something undamaged.

What's the insurance like for an unlicensed 16 year old who's already planning modifications? Probably 6-8 times what the car is actually worth? As its your first car just get it on the road and get some years under your belt before you blow your parents retirement plan insuring a £300 heap

This is the biggest and I dare say the best forum. A lot of information and help is available. (y)
I like your plans, having a project like this is quite good.
You said this is your fifth Fiat... tell us more?

I saw this for sale on the interent, was very tempted!!!!! :D

Im the same age as you, friend number 1 bought a vw beetle friend number 2 bought a 2cv (all needing work), i wanted a red punto 1.2 8v dynamic, (nearly bought one), but i found someone down the road selling a selling a t reg polo, so i bought it for £50 (Needs some engine/ body work), and getting it at the week end!

Love the alloys, and very nice colour!

Would look good with abarth side skirts and spoiler!

as Ashleys dad, he has bought this Punto and his previous Fiats with his own hard-earned cash.....he has a very mature head despite his 16 years and will work hard to achieve what he wants in life and does not rely on hand-outs

Hard men, hard life.
Wish there were more young people like this, not hanging around outside a spar shop with a can.

I agree, they amount of young people who waste their lives on xboxes etc or roaming round the streets is amazing. what a waste of life (n)

Maybe if they tried harder they could take my student of the year (second year running out of 249) away from me :D

just to add, Ashley also has a half share in a Lancia Dedra 1.8 i.e........admittedly, its gonna be tough getting him insured on it but Carole Nash are currently looking into classic insurance for young/new drivers

The Lancia's, Dads 2.0 ie, the 1.6 spares car (now scrapped) and the most shiny one is the one we share, p/x'd for my old seicento sporting

The madness started when I was about 10, an elderly man gave me 2 fiat tipo's, a 3 and a 5 door.. they enabled me to gain a bit of experience but they were scrapped due to being rusty. I then bought an 88 panda 1.0 fire for £85 with the head gasket gone, took the engine out and sold it in hope of finding a 1242 donor but it never happened and the drive needed doing so I sold it and it got scrapped, will have to dig some photo's out. I then bought a broom yellow seicento sporting for £200, bought an abarth kit for it, mot'd and taxed it then p/x'd it for the lancia. Me and dad hatched a plan to get round mum, he bought into the dedra by putting cash in too so we went halves on it which enabled me to buy another car so I arranged a viewing to this punto one saturday morning, took the money there, gave £250 for the car delivered to my house and here it is! I'm sure I will have plenty more Italian cars, anything else is a bit boring tbh(y)

Been busy, bought a sporting steering wheel, silver dash trim, coupe leather seats, door, wing, rear light, 100w standard sub and a parcel shelf. The car is now in the garage and me and dad are going to put it together next week end.
