Technical P0008 Engine Position System Performance (Bank1) ?????

Can any one please tell me what does these error codes
P0300 Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
P0008 Engine Position System Performance (Bank1)
actually mean? thank you
on the diagnostic machine p0008 means driver airbag squib

The misfire code comes usually from degraded ignition system
Failing hts and plugs - its probably best to replace them and it should cure it
Hopefully its no mechanical (compression) or timinh related

The driver squib means the airbag itself

Thanks ziggy I have changed the timing belt a while back so I hope its not a cog or two out . I changed the plugs left than a year ago but I bet the leads are as old as the car, the old plugs were . is the p0800

I had a similar misfire issue recently. Changing the plugs, HT leads (which mine too were as old as the car) and the coil pack cured the issue.

I noticed it was making smaller sparks on two of the cylinders which pointed towards the coil pack. You can get a new one of these for £30-£40 so it makes sense to change it at the same time. It's literally just 4 screws (on the 16v).
