Hi Folks

Have to be the most unfortunate yet with my Punto. For fear of putting you all to sleep, I won't go into the hundred odd problems that i've had so far - enough to say that i was considering a career change to a Fiat mechanic!

Anyway, typical symptoms, fan not coming on and car getting hot. No red light coming on yet but the engine/hoses are very hot. When i took off the water bottle cap, the water started overflowing. Thought it might have been an airlock so tried to get rid of the air.

The head gasket has been done twice, thermostat recently replaced and also the fan switch was recently replaced. Any ideas?

Think i'll lose the will to live if anyone says head gasket gone again......

Tony

short out the fan switch and see if it runs then, if you pull it out and use scissors to short it out and see if the fan spins up, then its the fan switch playing up, and you could also run a live straight from battery to the fan and see if it goes then, if not, probably fan motor burnt out or something,

this is going by cinq theory but should work the same in a punt (y)
