I had an argument with a hen pheasant with the front ns corner of the 100HP a while back en route to Italy, doing about 70 mph. Front bumper split round fog light (just visible on picture), apron under bumper split, ns headlight fractionally loose (didn't need to be replaced) and making a squeaking noise when moved, front of wing undamaged but making same noise as headlight when pressed. Just picked the car up - from Tavistock Motor Bodies - looks like a good job - bill for insurance company is over 800 pounds.

There's no solution, I suppose, but it makes me wonder about the word 'bumper'.

Ouch indeed ..I had the same while driving my proton GTI..no damage incurred but by god it weren't half tasty..:yum:

A mass hits it at 70mph and you refer to that as a bump

Lucky you airbag didn't go off :ROFLMAO:

Seriously though, got of lightly there he thinks ;)

hit one (pheasant) at 60 the day i collected my GP :bang: still the gp bumper won all i had to do was remove a smearing of pheasant guts and feathers, the GF at the time was wittering to stop an look at what damage it had done with some moronic glint in her eye, probably hoping i had hurt my baby.:tosser:... she went a tad green when she saw the mess :yuck: followed by the argument why didn't you swerve or brake....... = if i had swerved we'd have ended up either in that land drain or in the car coming the other way and braking the car behind would have been into the back of us now what would you rather i did......... :chin:

Thanks for your sensible comment - the perceived impact was very slight and - as you can tell - I'd assumed that damage would be minimal, but you've put the event into perspective for me. Avoidance wasn't an option - it was on the A303 dual carriageway approaching the M3 - I was overtaking a van, which the pheasant missed by a whisker (feather?), so room for manoeuvre was minimal, confined to a twitch to the right, which, reflecting on what you've said, may have reduced the damage substantially.

I know that road and junction well, and it is a fast road and can well imagine avoidance not being an option. The other drawback is, of course, no chance of stopping and picking up lunch :bang:
Glad you are ok, and that you have your baby fixed (y)
