Just asking peoples thoughts really,

I am thinking of trying to gather together all the how to's and guides I can, asking people permissions first of course, onto one all makes all models guide website, then maybe in the future making a community/forum for anyone interested in cars, whether just maintining or modding.

do people think its worth starting? would people look at somethign like that rather than just finding a forum for their vehicle and looking on there?

and do people think other forums would get funny me asking to basically just copy their how to sections? or if i said i'd put where the information has come from so people could link to the original forum they'd think it was ok?

In general the idea is great, but:
1 - other sites wont give you the guides
2 - the guides you will/want to put up on yur web site would be all copied or stolen to other sites

That is IMHO

The only thing that I thought was that it could get very messy as there are so many cars and so many types of mods, all with their inherent differences. It could get a lot bigger than you could manage.

Worth a try though :)

Agreed with the above. People would ge cheesed off after there work is taken by somebody else for use on their site. However, linking to their guides should not cause a problem. Just make sure you ask the owners first

re

yeah i was going to ask first! i dont want any hassle and woudlnt ever claim to have made them myself!

I was just thinking of having guides and people be able to rate them etc, as i've found guides that miss chunks out or are just a bit vaugue, or that are totally spot on.

I can see just linking to other sites would be a lot easier, but because of having to register etc for some sites, i thought people might find it easier, then if they like the guides they can always register on the sites as i'd link them all aswell!

they are putting their guides up for public to view anyway, i figure if i ask the people thathave written them i might have more success!

Most people will have written guides to help out a specific site. The site would prefer a link as it still generates traffic for their site. If you take the guide for your site then it is 'stealing' traffic from the original site.

Site traffic is what generates nice figures for potential sponsors :)
