serach for "great britain postcode add on" in emule

the file is 7.41MB

thats the one i have and it works, just copy the zip folder to the root of your tomtom installation (same place the map resides)

When you start tomtom 5 back it will let you do full postcode searchs and give you address right upto the street.

Re: search

Got my GPS receiver and everything works like a dream. And thanks for the tip off about the postcodes, rsmallwo :) Got that now too and works a treat :)

The eBay seller I got my GPS receiver from was inter-activeinformation. 100% feedback power seller with a feedback score of 1437, so very trustworthy :) They have offices in the US and UK, so make sure you are ordering from the UK one to get prompt delivery :)

Re: search

What is the battery life like on the GPS receiver? Been thinking about sorting Tom Tom out on my Nokia 7610.

Re: search

According to the blurb, my GPS receiver has 20 hours usage off a full charge. Put it this way, I switch it on about 7am and it's on all day till I get home about 12 hours later, and it's still going strong :)

good oh

glad you got it sorted

i have the same receiver

its very good, only goes screwy on the very odd occasion, restart cures it in seconds

battery life is excellent, i usually switch mine on and off between journeys but it lasts me a whole week!

postcodes aren't as fab as i'd like however, like my street, it puts me on the street next to mine? but then on other postcodes its dead on.

Re: good oh

Hey guys I take it you know a lot about this stuff. Hope you can help me.

Got my new Nokia 6680 today and would like GPS and there is no way im paying £200 for it ;)

I think ill get the GPS receiver you recommend from Inter-Active, but they don't have any on eBay, you reckon its ok to buy from their actual site?

Anyways any chance of someone sending/pointing in the right direction to the TomTom mobile 5 uk version, on Limewire there are so many versions, mostly Italy etc. Happy to send some beer money if someone sends it to me.

Any help appreciated.

Edit: and Emule won't work.

Re: good oh

First of all, can you confirm what memory card the 6680 has. Is it a standard MMC or is it a Reduced Size MMC (RS-MMC) ? Also, what capacity is it ?

Secondly, do you have a memory card reader/writer for your PC ? It's not essential, but would be a shitload quicker than transferring via Bluetooth.

Thirdly, I don't see any problem with ordering direct from their site. The receiver is the same price and I had no problems with their shipping.

Finally, let us know your email and someone will be in touch ;)

Re: good oh

Cheers for the reply Rob

Its a reduced size dual voltage MMC, I think its 64mb as standard but I know where to larger ones. What size is the full TomTom, plus postcodes, plus speed cameras, just so I know which to get.

I do have a memory card reader on my PC but I don't think it does reduced size MMC's. I could get one from Maplins fairly cheap though right?

I checked on Inter-Active's site but they are sold out.

What do you reckon about this:

My email is in my name. It'll just go to Outlook.

Thanks for the help.

Re: good oh

You will need a bare minimum of 128MB, and that won't leave you much space for other stuff. I just bought a 512MB for my 6600 and that is just fine.

Now, the only problem is that TomTom Mobile 5 is not listed as compatible with the 6800 yet (Although they do show a 6800 on their website in a promotional picture !). I have heard that this is down to the use of Dual Voltage cards, although it might just be that at the moment they don't sell TomTom Mobile on anything other than a standard MMC.

You can buy RS-MMC cards with MMC adapters (basically a bit that attaches to the bottom of the card to make it MMC size). Carphone Warehouse do a neat little USB card reader that I believe does RS-MMC's and is about £20.

That GPS on eBay that you linked too is the same as the one I bought from Inter-Active but the seller doesn't look as trustworthy. As ever with eBay, it's caveat emptor.

Re: good oh

Cheers rob. To be honest the phone came with a data cable and Nokia PC Suite which i have been using to send music and images etc to and from the phone. I should think I could send the prgram that way, without the need for card readers.

I already know people on other forums with TomTom on their 6680 so I think it will be compatible.

Any chance you could pair me up with the program Rob :)

Thanks
