Last week I sold my 1997 Fiat Cinquecento Sporting. I am gonna miss her but I get a great car instead next week. Fiat 500 1.4 by Diesel in the Diesel Green color. :D

I still have some questions about the car tho. Is it possible to install the Original Fiat Bi-Xenon headlights afterwards? And what they are going to cost if I get them afterwards? My dealer couldnt give me a straight answer..

My dealer also told me its hard to install the Fog lights afterwards.. Due board computer issues or something..

I really dont want those fake aftermarket Xenon lights that only annoy other drivers.

Hard to just plug n play and integrate the fogs into the original system properly as the whole car is swimming with CAN nodes. However, I reckon (although i am part way through a masters degree in electronics) it'd be childs play to rig up front fogs using the existing button (not sure about relay ratings, essentially I'd be uprating the relay that operates the rear fog and tapping lines off that to power the front fogs) but it's not something you should start playing with unless you know what you're doing as it could cause £££ of damage, and possibly you'd need to change the switch, pull the rear fog off the CAN and add relay(s) and wiring. You'd also never (realistically) get the integrated double press front/rear control and the dash indicator for front fogs.

I'm not sure the wiring diagrams are actually available anyway and I've never seen them so this is pure speculation, I'm assuming the 500 has a conventional relay box and they are controlled by GPIO lines out of the related CAN node.

Failing that, the old barry trick for installing fogs with a switch under the dash would work.

I'm sure our resident dealers will be along shortly to tell me how wrong I am though. (y)

Essentially, either way you're looking at more wiring, changing the switch and adding the front fog lights.

Should've bought a sport ;) (That's a joke, btw!)

Edit: Doesn't the Bydiesel include front fogs?? Answer: The UK spec does.

First of all. Hello and welcome to the forums :)
I asked the same question to my dealer and was told that it couldnt be done to fit the xenons afterwards, so I decided to buy them with the car. As mentioned above the canbus system make things very hard to change. Besides, if it was possible it would cost a huge amount in working hours to get it fitted. And I must say that im really happy with them. The light in the dark is massive, and it also looks the part. Also I havent seen any other 500 with them, so it make my car stand out in the pack.

(Oh, and the price for the xenons here in Denmark is an staggering 1782 punds)

Ive heard that standard bulbs on the 500 is quite weak, so maybe you could change em to something better. Heard some good things about those Nightbreakers from Philips.

Thanks for the answers people! I think I go look for some alternative headlights then.. Maybe those Angel Eyes could work. At least they got lens projectors so maybe its possible to mix them aftermarket Xenon headlights for a realistic look.

Reason why I went for the '500 by Diesel' is because I got a huge discount on it.. EUR 19.995 is basicl price here, but I got it for 18.750 including Electric roof + Cruise Control (Options over the EUR 19.995 version). There was no way I could get even close to that with a 500 sport. I configured the 500 Sport with the same options as I would get on the Diesel and would go over EUR 22.000..

I'd double check whether the Bydiesel does in fact come with front fogs, like I said over here (UK) it does and I can't see why FIAT would strip it off the ones sold in the Netherlands, especially as it's clearly an option available on other 500s over there.

Hmmm I dont know why either but this 500 Diesel has no fog lights.. I checked a 500 Diesel at other dealer and it had no fog lights aswell.

Yes the Philips and Osram lights are quite ok but not even close to Xenon.. :( Think I am going to check out if I am able to mix Angel Eyes with some aftermarket Xenon lights. At least you dont get the blue fish tank lights that way since the Xenon are behind a projector. :)
