Last few nights my Xbox has been making a strange noise while watching a DVD or playing a game.

Is it ****ed, or is it possible to get fixed at home?

Wow! Was expecting to wait more than 2 minutes to get that reply!

I'm more than happy with my 360, Live is brilliant, I already have a selection of games for it, which I would have to get again, and most my friends have a 360, so doesn't make sense to get a PS3. Plus its more expensive than the new Xbox.

Earth cables and wrist straps are for pansies, real men don't do PPE and I've dismantled hundreds of PC's on various carpets and never had a problem

As said though, the DVD drives do tend to go on them but replacements are easily found and a piece of cake to install. If you're not comfortable doing it, post it to me and I'll do it for you FOC

that's not to say its pointless.
I leave the power supply in therefore dissipating any static and touching case dissipates my static.

Id rather have a working peice of kit than one thats not working.

No! You need a data transder cable. Transer between PC i beleive. Only reason I haven't got the new one yet, too much hassle.
