Sorry to be the bearer of even more bad news but overtook a transporter this morning carrying what looked like cars that had been p/x'd using the scrappage scheme, a few old rustbuckets, not your usual auction items

However this had a classic panda on, not a 4x4 but a sisley 4x4!

Had mint doors as well looking at it briefly, may pop up in adverts like the one above sorry to say

IF you bought this car could you trailer it to another European country, register it there, then after a year bring it back? :D

I dunno. A possible loop hole.

On a slightly more illegal note, I can see alot of similar type of cars becoming 'cloaned' now. Like mentioned somewhere else in this thread, by a wreck of a white 4x4, and swap VIN and Reg plates.

There have been some scrappys selling cars for £400 whole, on the basis they will not be re-issued a V5. Ideal getting a 4x4 for farm use etc.

Even though cloning is illegal, I can't see there being a problem as long as you own the car you are cloning. The only tricky bit would be making the vin plates look authentic.

I actually know where there is a rotten F reg white 4x4 which has been sat for 6 years or so. I tried to buy it but the owner didn't want to sell it. If I had bought that I would be very tempted to try and buy this 4x4.

what if you bouhgt it, made it into a kit car like a road rat or firefly type thing, and registered it on a Q plate??

I think you could do that as it would be a new chassis/body and only use parts from the 4x4.

I'm not sure about exporting it and then re-importing it as wouldn't the DVLA recognise the VIN number and say that should have been destroyed?
