I bought my first Bravo 1.6 SX two years ago, and I was really satisfied of performances. 6 months I had an accident (A drunk guy was overtaking and lost control...), and my car was definitly out. So I bought another one, a Bravo 1.6 GT.

Why did Fiat change gearbox specifications ??? Now the 4th and the 5th gears are really too long, the car gets its max speed with the 4th gear.

Does anyone has the same experience than me ?

Is it specific to the french market ?

When I bought it, I didn't know about that. For my third bravo (!!!), I'll take a 1.8 GT. Or perhaps an HGT...

Thanks.

FIAT Bravo gear box

Hi

Yes FIAT did change the gear ratio on the 4th and 5th gear, that's probably becase people that the 1.6 engine is too noisy

Gears and max speed

Hi
My HGT gets its max speed at 5th gear.
Although the speedometer shows 220 km/h, consider that 5% error, and i was really driving at 215 km/h. And it was great! The Bravo runs steady, and there was more noise comming from the wind than from the motor. Great car!

Gear problems too

Hi Pierre!
I'm a Bravo 1.6 GT owner's too and i found the gears very very long.
I personally like the gears a little bit long but this one are too lazy.
I'm going to try to modify the gear ratios and i have some theorical solution (change 5th gear, change final ratio...).
Does anyone found a solution too???

Thanks.
