well im not totally worried just wanted some oppinions.

i seem to be topping my cinq up with oil every two to three weeks i always make sure i top it up to the max line on flat ground (takes ages to fill it up) and i also did an oil change about a thousand miles agowith fresh oil, filter plugs(bosch super something expensive anyway).

Does anybody think this is extremely excessive on an 899 SX cinq?

Also on a more serious note which may be connected to the above i seem to be getting this creamy ail gunk in my k&n 57i indiuction kit cone filter at first when i saw this creamy gunk it hought it was the headgasket but under the filler cap is fine any suggestions?

As i say its an 899 on a 1996 p reg and at the moment im using 15/40 coma semi-sythetic as i have since i did the oil change, before the oil change i used castrol gtx 15/40 but it used that just as fast.

blocked crankcase venterlation tubes.

ots just oial in the k&n mixed wit h2o i tink so it looks like the head haz gon chek the oil filter is dun up and chek your sump for ne leaks maybe u went over a speed bump 2 fast and cracked it ??

well as a guide did the oil change about two months ago and buy 5 litre bottles of oil and am nearly a 1/3 of the way through my second.

Yes one of the crankcase ventilation tubes was blocked and glued with araldite for some reason so i cut of the pipe will this do any harm?

there is oil all over the bottom of the engine but i think its coming from the gearbox as this so called reputable garage called JUBILEE GARAGE in packmoor, stoke-on-trent fitted my clutch and every since ive had problems gitting in 1st, sometimes third but rare and it seriously does not want to go in reverse any of the time and when it does grinds nearly every time and they keep saying "well its not our problem all we did was fitt a clutch kit and fit it as requested" Ars***les.

In my 899cc, i had the problem that a lot of 899cc engine's suffered from. The clip that holds one of the breather pipes is so tight that it ends up melting it together. Caused noisy tappets and meant I went thruogh a lot of oil once I'd done it. I'd check out what Dave said though.

Any luck tracking down the oil leak yet ???

well i havent had time to look as my mother is driving the car all the time.

But have noticed that my clutch problem is worse when the engine is warm which means that it has got oil on the drive plate which when gets hot causes clutch slip the only way to solve the problem is to fit new seals and a clutch kit which i certainly am not doing with this engine so roll on my sporting engine just got to sort out my damn insurance first.

Anyone know of insurance companies who will insure new drivers with an engine conversion for a decent price.

I've had the gunk in my breater pipe before on my sporting, cleaned it out and cleaned the k&n again but piut it down to an unexplained occurence.

As for the oil usage, what mileage has the engine done? Could the sump gasket be shot?

Liam

engines done 63000 miles, starts and ticks over fine and is a really nice car to drive and is quickish ive had 75mph on a very long private road,

just realised that it is still firing water dropplets out of the exhaust wheather hot or cold, does this mean anything?

im seriously thinkin the head gasket has gone except for the fact that there is no hellmans mayonaise under the oil cap

Is there an obvious oil leak under the car? I don´t think a blown headgasket would actually get water coming out of your tail pipe as it would turn to vapour in the combustion chamber, a compression check is the cheapest and easiest solution. You can also place oil leak finder(die) and use a black light to find where it comes from, if it leaked into the combustion chambers you would defenitly notice all the smoke:D

i reply to the clutch problem,
i had problems getting gears after having a new clutch put in mine, so brought the clutch cable out a bit more, this stops the crunch into reverse most of the time and makes it a little bit easier getting in to gears, but after giving the car a bit more stick then normal there is a really nasty smell of clutch.

my H/G is slowly going but the cost of getting it fix will be a little bit less then getting a 1.2 dropped in, so im in 2 minds at the min.

no i havent done a compression test yet will try and borrow my uncles this weekend and do one.

on the clutch side ive taken it back in the garage twice this week and both times they have adjusted the clutch cable and now the bite is right at the top and they keep saying there is nothing wrong with it, but i think they have realised im NOT going to give up on this untill its fixed because they got £100 labour alone so im gonna make sure they earn it. :)
