General Oil sump

Ok this is probably a silly question, i have never had to change my oil before! I have bought an oil sump key but it wont turn, should i be turning it clockwise or anticlockwise as i don't want to break anything. Thanks for any help

anti clock wise to take it off .

The sump key is probably too small. Try to put a open tube at the end of the sump key, that wil make it easier to turn it.

Can you get the oil filter off ??

The first time I drained the oil from my Cinq the drain plug was stupidly tight.
I was literally hanging on the end of a 60cm breaker bar!
Far too tight.

I never had problem with the key, is usually the filter that is a pain when u r changing the first time.

If they are very tight, they can actually crack the welds around the thread, and then it just spins round and leaks (new sump time and a lot of mess).

As said though, it is anticlockwise, when lookin up at it from underneath

Thankyou all, finally got the key to turn today! New oil and filter fitted and for the first time in over three years I started my litttle car ...hooray!!
