Hello everyone,(y) i am new to the forum and i need some help(surprise surprise) anyway i have got myself a oil pressure guage, which comes with a sender. the sender thread size is 1/8. the problem is i don,t want to drain the oil and take the oil pressure switch off to findout its the wrong thread size. does anybody know if this is the right thread size and if not what is it so i can buy an adaptor. thanks:)

Hi, you're where i was about 2 weeks ago... the thread on mine was 1/8 NPT. I fitted a sandwich plate between the filter and pump. I had to tap out a blanking fitting to get it in correctly.

There's pictures of the set-up here... http://www.nitrane.co.uk/multimedia/albums/engine.htm

As said above, Demon Tweeks are a good source of bits and knowledge, and their service is pretty good too.

As finger said (he should have invoice for it in the records of blue) I got a M18 to 1/8NPT fittings for oil pressure from Demon Tweeks, utilising the bottom oil feed below oil filter take off, its blanked as standard with an Allen bolt.

Its made be LMA Motorsport on this page scroll down http://www.lma-group.com/motorsport/Products/Gauge_Fitting_Parts/gauge_fitting_parts.html

ADAPTOR M18*1.5(M) to 1/8NPT(F) Short Style LMA067 £5.99

It seems that you have fitted the guage now, but you don't need to drain the oil to fit a gauge.

When you turn off the engine, just about all the oil drains down into the sump. The oil level is below the sump gasket level. Look how long the dipstick is.

There will be some oil stuck in the oil galleries in the engine, but there won't be much and draining the sump won't empty the galleries anyhow. You only need to drain the oil if you are taking the sump off for something.
