hi all!!! just found this forum and thought i'd ask a question,

having just purchased a marea 1.8elx i'm having problems that the car ocasionally will not start up, it turns over but won't fire up, if i keep tryin it will eventually kick in, the people i bought it off said that it will probably be the fuel pump, ???? is this possible and if so how much could we be talkin to repair??

wont start might be from other faulty also....
1. Faulty TDC sensor - cause no supply to the high tenson coil (injector light will not display at the instrument panel)
2. Faulty timing sensor - cause no supply to the high tenson coil (injector light (warning light) will display at the instrument panel)

would these make it do it intermitant?? when it wont start if i keep tryin then it will start up but can take up to ten mins

One of the reasons TDC or timing sensor faulty is the wire/cable of the sensor short circuit due heat of the engine that melt the shielded wire. If this happen, intermitent problem might occurs such as diffcult starting or the engine wont start at all!

This sympton has happened to me once. When I checked, it was the TDC sensor wire short circuit. Luckyly I managed to rebuild the wire & problem solved! Luck is on my side!!!!

cheers mate, left it with the bloke i bought it off, he said he'll get it sorted, if not at least i know where to look
