Hi guys, sorry for the OT post but it may not be Ford related....

The missus has just bought a Ford Ka (1998) and the heater has a weird problem. Position '0' is obviously off. Position 1,2 and 3 do not blow any air out at all, but position '4' (the highest) blows at full power.

Any ideas??

Thanks,

Ah-Ha!
- Well, someone on here did warn you about heater problems on F**D Kas before you bought it :) :) :)

- Seriously, I'd guess it's just the dial switch itself, - maybe fixed by just removing it and cleaning all the dust and cr*p out of it. If not, then it's a new one.

Heaters on the fan side of have a resistor in which slows the fan down this may be burnt out or wire's off
The resistor is normally by the fan

My other half's Almera has the same problem. All or nothing. Will be resistor/wire broken.

The heater in my beloved Metro GTa did the same too. Half the contacts on it rusted and obviously snapped. Was easy to replace. Don't know on any other cars tho!

Many thanks for the responses guys. We replaced the resistor and it works a treat now!

Many thanks again,

Martin
