number plate question

is puttin a standard 11x8 plate on the front of ur car illegal??

some ppl say it is n othas say no...

anybody know??

As per form V796,, if you are talking about an 11" high by 8" wide 3-line plate fitted after 31st August 2001, it would be illegal.

If you mean 11" long by 8" high, that would also be illegal as, to fit 7 characters and the 5 letter-spaces and the group space they would all have to be smaller than regulation size. A plate needs to be about 18" long to fit all the characters and spaces in at their regulation sizes.

All above is based on an assumption that you have a Z123 ABC style VRN.

Whoops! I missed out a whole paragraph!!

If you mean a 4 character/3 character 2-line plate, that would probably be legal, based the legal character and space sizes.
