Hi can anybody help me please.

I have a 51 plate 1.2 8v Punto, and had major slipping from my clutch on friday driving home, luckily I got home before there was no drive at all in any gear.

I have had the problem of clutch judder so I spent all day Saturday and Sunday fitting the latest version of clutch for my car from the fiat dealer, only to find that it hasn't fixed the problem.

I still have no drive in any gear with the clutch pedal out. If I'm lucky I get a little jump.

My next attempt at fixing it will be to bleed the hydraulic clutch thoroughly, and hope that this fixes the problem.

But can anyone advise me how to fix it?

Hi :)
So the common clutch problem
Along with loads of new clutches, my Punto has had a new clutch slave cylinder. This is what Fiat thought was the problem when it went in the 3rd time. It worked until the clicking/juddering started again lol Its just an idea

either you put strain on the diff from driving like a **** or from warping flywheel which you can get replaced under warrenty.

if you have big rims and a lowered car this will also help mess it up.

either you find a complete gearbox to swap with or you swap the diff out of your own box.

you need either a mk2 1.2 8v, 1.2 16v or mk1 75sx or mk1 1.2 16v, the 55 and 60 diffs do not fit your drive shafts, I cannot confirm anyothers.

the job is easy to do as I have done it today, you would not have complete loss of drive from the car if it was the clutch unless you broke the plate (very hard to do in a 8v), if you have shaking in the car, back off as this is a problem on the drivetrain which wont go away it will make something snap, in your case the diff..

yeah definatley try diff that sounds like your problem, cause they still seem to stay the same with a new flywheel, its one of those problems that fiat dealers and fiat technical advice have problems with. :D

Hi all, yes it looks like the dif is the next job on my list. I'm personally amazed coz I've never had a dif go on a car before, especially since the car is only 3 yrs old!!! I do not drive the car harshly at all, it never sees over 3000 revs! I've bled and checked the clutch and slave cylinder and I think it's all working fine. Anyway I've already drained the gearbox ready to strip out the dif and see what's wrong.

I'll keep everyone posted.

Thanks for all comments.

You have a 1.2 8v and it never sees over 3000 revs?

Been on any good motorways recently? ;)

Yes, but it's not worth going over 3000 coz there's nothing there. I've had far more powerful cars so the punto's immense power means nothing to me!

Personally I'm disgusted with the build quality in these cars. I was a precision engineer for ten years and have worked on numerous cars, and find the multiple problems related to puntos shocking. I stripped the diff out last night and found the main ring gear had worked itself loose from a pressed fit.
A new diff at 40,000 miles!!

Besides, I have the cbr600 if I want to go fast.

lol.
