Newbie seeks Doblo help

Hi everyone, thank you for inviting me, I'm new here, I'm trying to help my Polish mechanic to get my Fiat Doblo diesel cargo van back on the road, recently the cooling thermostat stuck closed and overheated my engine, my mechanic put another engine in and replaced the injectors and timing chain kit, it turns over but will not fire up, he suspects the ECU cut off the fuel supply, so he linked it up to a computer and the ECU says internal errors - Internal Electronic failure and the BCM module says Fire prevention system status from body control module - Invalid serial data received. He has even tried an ECU from his own working van to no Avail, I'd be very grateful of any help, thanks.

After all that work , there are so many areas that could be causing a problem.
However regarding Fire prevention side? This is from a 2010 Fiat Doblo 1.6 handbook about fuel shut off.
