In 3 years and 20,000 miles its needed the following:

4 tires
6 headlight bulbs
New front shocks
2 exhaust flexi's
Exhaust backbox / tail pipe
Engine rebuild (head gasket failure following sudden coolant loss on motorway)
Alternator
Clutch
ECU

And it currently has the following faults:

Cracked pan glass roof
Leaking heater matrix
Power steering only works if you turn iginition on, off and on again
Spark plug anti foul fault, triggering CEL & reduced power

Plus probably more that I can't think of right now. It's been off the road for about a year out of the 3 years I've owned it, mainly for the engine overheating issue.

Worst car I've ever owned, by far!

I had a matrix fail on a previous FIAT, took out 2 headgaskets in 6 weeks.. thankfully it was just the gasket.. so a cheap fix :)

That car was actually very good.. it was probably my best

Current punto is very good thus far.. but only covered 70k in 10 years ( 1 bulb ) ;)

I read somewhere that it could be a sign that the BCU is on the way out.

Something I forgot to list previously is that the interior courtesy light doesn't come on when a door is opened. The red warning light in the instrument cluster comes on, but the courtesy light doesn't. I'd heard that's also a sign of BCU issues.

I had been using Bosch 'Plus 90' H7 bulbs, but have reverted to using standard ones now. They do seem to be lasting longer, so I think you're right.

Thanks.
