Hi From Melbourne Australia. Waiting delivery of my used 2006 Free Spirit Motorhome with Ducato/SoFim 8140S 2.8L Engine. It may need the timing belt changedas last record was changed 5 years ago. Still investigating.

I am also a new Free Spirit owner in Australia. I had my timing belt changed last year and it was a bit more expensive than I expected. I would say get a quote from a few different mechanics before deciding on who to go with. Best of luck.

Hi
As a previous Freespirit owner, I changed the timing belt on mine when it was 6 years old with around 43Ks. When I removed the belt & the 2 roller pulleys they were all in perfect condition. I did the timing belt myself & have written a guide for the procedure which is in the Ducato guides section if you think you might try it yourself. See link -
I also changed the auxiliary belts & tensioner pulley at the same time as these can cause problems if the break & can be forced into the timing cover resulting in timing belt jumping a tooth or even breaking.
One other thing to check also is the bottom radiator support crossmember as they have a reputation of rusting out.
I pumped mine full of fish oil till it was running out every hole.
Cheers
