Welcome to the forum.

What problems are you having with the 2 vehicles that you want advice about?
.

No problems

I'm just unsure what one to possibly consider

Do they suffer any issues

No offence to anyone but there was always a saying

Fix it again tomorrow or something

Also i know autos can suffer transmission issues

Just would like someone with a bit of knowledge to maybe help weigh up the 2 options

Hi, and welcome:)

I have no experience of DuaLogic / Selespeed; I'm sure there are plenty of happy owners out there who've never had any issues. But at 9 years old, irrespective of mileage, I would avoid them, personally.

FIAT's build quality recently is certainly much better than it used to be - my 18 y.o. Panda is rust free to my amazement - and they're generally mechanically strong...
...but...
...if I needed an automatic, I would avoid all robotised gearboxes and look for a car with a genuine automatic transmission.

It's not just FIAT's DuaLogic, I wouldn't trust any of them. Most issues I've seen on here seem to be simply age-related, often the hydraulic seals on the robot that sits on top of the conventional manual gearbox and changes the gears for you. Needs a specialist familiar with them, and can be very expensive to repair.

If these cars really suit your needs, then maybe see if you can negotiate a warranty for peace of mind?

100% agree with rmjbn1 re modern small automatics. When my children were learning to drive I convinced them to take the manual driving test so they were not restricted to autos of any kind. Autos of any make are great when working but you need a deep pocket when they fail, sorry.

Proper old traditional autos never seemed to fail. Amazing bis of mechanical engineering that are being killed off due to the eco-warriors.

I'm guessing you can also drive most pure EVs with an auto licence too since they dont have gears.

I suspect the second hand EV repairs are going to be even more expensive and few mechanics trained up or inclined to want to undertake repairs. Throw in the electricity companies not being able to cope with 100% of the market? Could see Britain as a third World Country with dead EVs being pulled along by horses;)
Disappointed in Fiat saying intend to be totally EV in GB soon!
