Hello,

My Tipo originally having very basic uConnect3.
I have already earlier purchased Connects2 CTKFT17 (which should be OK for my Tipo cause there's not sat nav).

But I'm still considering between Kenwood/Pioneer (wireless Android Auto) and China/eBay/Amazon head units. Alpine with wireless Android Auto is far too expensive (at least here in Finland).

erisin in Amazon (+rear camera) seems very interesting option. Thus Android 14 is quite old.

So, questions for you installed/tested these head units
- Is RAM and ROM as advertised?
- Is Android version as stated?
- Can you install apps from Google Play store?
- Is head unit receiving Android/security updates? OTA? Via USB stick?

I Think Erisin is designed for sat nav interface, you need to check if it s compatible with yours. I have dmx8020dabs in my merc and it is much better sound quality etc however you loose all vehicle settings and so. BTW had my Alfa with DMX in Levi and it started playing up below -25 outside.

I had also pondered on buying a Pioneer at some point but the price is exorbitant, at least for the features these head units offer and I am glad I did not buy one, in the end.
Erisin has proven to be a very potent replacement for the Uconnect the car comes with. But since you have already purchased the adapter kit (which is quite pricey, if I am not mistaken), maybe you should expand your options on 2-DIN android units.

Would it matter if it was designed for Satnav though, @berlinasportiva? (As it comes with the GPS antenna in any case, I mean)

Well, for instance, I have installed Netflix so the children can watch while we cover short distances like to and from school, swimming pool, music or english lessons. For longer trips, I wouldn't recommend it (especially for children), as focusing your eyesight on a fixed point can increase the possibility of nausea.
But yes, there are not many apps that one could actually need, as far as I can think of.

Thanks GGT. Please let me know if you can find any AM stations on your wife's car. If you can, it appears that your Erisin, like mine, can't receive AM broadcasts.

I wonder if the slow loading of AA is more to do with your phone than the Erisin - it always loads quickly for me, wirelessly (My phone is a Samsung S24) I don't have the crackling during music either.

Like you, I wish the radio could come on when the car is off.

My only annoyance is that when there is to be a Waze announcement, the radio volume goes up a fraction of a second before it is muted for the announcement.

I finally drove our Clio this weekend and I can confirm that it's just the Erisin that cannot find AM stations. On the Clio's Rlink I managed to tune into a few AM stations.

Not something that would worry me at home in the UK, but one of the stations I'd like to listen to here is AM only, which was how I came to try it. If it's common to all 4 units that we know about on here, maybe Erisin will look at the problem and fix it....

Why don't you try using an e-radio app that includes the station you like?

You mean via the internet on my phone? Tried that - station is listed but doesn't play, and that would use too much data in any case.

heads up, mine doesn't work either, but I've put back the original one, and my aerail base is gone, so it's not picking up AM either on oe radio.

Ah, it's a generic thing then - AM doesn't work on any of them. Why have you put the original radio back in as a matter of interest?

Another thing I would like to ask is whether one can adjust font size in Android Auto apps like Spotify. The letters are a tad small as are the album images while the screen is quite large.

Cor so much has gone on since the last time I was on this thread would i be correct that i could swap my unconnect 5” with sat nav to a 7”
If i obtain part of the dash to fit the 7”?
I have noticed the 7” has an extra connector on the back of the screen
Any advise would be appreciated
