New Punto in the flesh

New Punto in the flesh

Looks allrite in my opinion, not keen on the wingmirror look like somting off the daewoo matiz also those wheels dont do it any justice, not sure its design or size; maybe a size bigger 16"/17" and maybe a multi spoke kida design, like the 1's on the stilo!
Autocar had some spy pics of it testing with a rather tasty set of 'loys a few weeks back, looks like the hot version could be somethin a bit special

Looks like a fish to me! like lots of new cars :yuck: . But it´s easyer to complain when you have seen it for real......maby it look great in real life :)

I want a quick diesel and the Skoda is a sleeper to most people, especially when its remapped to 180bhp!!

you luckky bastard there damn nice cars and are extremely quick especially when you dont know what it is

back on topic though i think the new punto looks nice but yes i agree they should make a hot version as im sick of seeing the likes of citroen in the limelight even though there good cars in their own right

one thing though how much do we think this is really going to cost when it eventually comes out as i think fiat generally overcharge when they bring new cars out considering most seem to have the common fiat niggles with them

Maybe with a full kit on it, in an Abarth version the Punto will look cool. But as it is, to me the front end looks ugly, looks like a catfish. (n)

Oh dear me, I have liked the previous pictures but something on that car just doesn't work for me, it's not a scratch on the mark 1 or 2s class leading looks.... :(

I've not seen it in the flesh yet, so.....

It doesn't look like a peugeot, it doesn't look like a fish (if it did, the barsteward Heron that raped my pond this afternoon would have had it)

What it does look like though is a Maserati and that's spot on in my book (y)

The wing mirrors do look like a Matiz but they are Italian, as the Matiz was designed by an Italian, Guigaro, but rejected by Fiat (to right, as it looks like a dog) that's OK.

Also Guigaro has designed this new Punto, so they are HIS mirrors cos he designed them for the Matiz.

I think I got there.

Re the Fabia.. have you seen www.briskoda.co.uk check out the faults they have!!!! I.E. seats wearing out in a few thousand miles. VW build isnt what you expect, those Skodas wont be all reliable after the warranty runs out, I considered one for a long term car but the test drive revealed broken switches, rattles, worn seat and an arch liner was falling out the wheelarch!!
But... what a drive... awesome!!!

Well I do need to test drive one first ;)

Im sorry but those faults are nothing, I mean my 2002 Punto is on its 4th clutch.......On the whole VW group cars; Skodas are very well built and reliable, check out the recent Top Gear car survey top 10:

1: Honda S2000 - 94.0
2: Jaguar XJ series - 93.6
3: Lexus IS 200 - 93.1
4: Honda Jazz - 92.2
5: Skoda Octavia - 91.7
6: Toyota Yaris - 90.6
7: Toyota RAV4 (New) - 90.4
8: Mazda 6 - 90.2
9: Skoda Fabia - 90.1
10: Honda CR-V - 88.9

If im not mistaken, I see two Skodas up there!! :p

(I think there should be a designated section where we can talk about Non-Fiat cars to stop this :spam:  :D )

I think we should have a Skoda section!!! Nice Wolfracepunto I don't think you'd regret that choice - I've been in three fabias (not the vrs though) - they are spacious fast (well the 1.4 and 1.9TD are anyway) and solid. The customer satisfaction says it all... yes there are a lot of problems on Briskoda but people only post when there's a problem, and it's nothing compared to say a certain Italian manufacturer. I mean just check out the number of clutch, ECU and red key problems down in the Punto section!

Ahem, back on topic. As I said in the punto section I don't think much of the new motor.
