Hi
just got a 1998 grey 1.8hlx Bravo for £ 350 off ebay and it's a tidy little number.

Needs new bumper and lights on front and few paint chips repairing but other than that it's okay.

Had the battery off to charge over night and now when it starts the red injector light comes on and stays on.
Is this a major problem.
I do have some knowledge of repairs so should be capable of doing it myself.

Any advice please,

As there seems to be so many variants of these motors will post images later to see if what I have is standard or if it's been modded as I am clueless on this.

if the injector lights stays on then there is probably a problem, but i could be many things!?

Does the car turn over/start? If so it may just of registered a fault code, in which case you need a diagnostic test.

If it does not start then it may be a little more serious.

Did the seller supply the red key?

Seems to come on and off at random at the moment.
Starts fine and runs well.
It might just be that it's had a reset with the battery off for 24 hours.

The only key I have is the blue with remote button as both others are lost in time as is the code card.

Hope this is not too much of a problem.

Thanks for your response,

Andi

No problem with the key. Timpsons can do you another for around £30.Just take your key and they will cut the profile and programme a new key

or you may have just caused an temp electrical fault/surge when you reconnected the battery and its regestered it as a fault.

get it diagnosed, and you should be able to erase the code and stop the light from blinking.

Thanks for the advice.
Need to get it into the garage now as wife pranged it the other day.

Will find a good key cutting shop round here as they are all independents.

Whilst in the garage would it be a good idea to change the oil and give it a good service.
WIll also get some fuel line cleaner and clean up the injectors.
Also now got a ramdom ABS light on so will also have to do the braking system and change the fluids.

Luckily we have our own inspection pit here on the estate so this makes it easier.
