Hi
I am a new member in this forum, I just recently bought myself a Fiat 500 -72.
During this winter a will go through the beautiful car and do some maintenance.

First factory tool I need is a Fiat timing tool number AP. 5030/1 I saw in this forum that some member have produced and made this tool.

Is there by any chance a tool over somewhere that I can byu?

All the best

Hello and welcome! You don't need that tool, though I'm sure one would help. You can set the static timing with a volt meter or a bulb with wires attached. Or you can set it dynamically with a timing strobe. Here's a video of my strobe light.

Hi Smart51

Thank you for your quick response.
I am aware that I can set the timing static with measuring 13mm from tdc and also with running engine and a strobolight. Thought thou that it would be nice with the tool.
Another Q, I can’t find any mark to detect tdc also on your video I can’t see any mark.

I have the 594cc engine. Look again at my video. You will see an arrow cast in to the oil pump cover. That is the TDC mark. 13mm to the left is a straight line cast into the cover. That is the 10 degree BTDC mark. 499cc engines don't have that.

You can see a red mark I've painted on the pulley. There is a line cast into the oil filter cover which is inline with that, though it is hard to see on the video.

The tool is very rare. You might struggle to find one. I think there are 3D print files online. You could probably get one printed.

Hi
I also have the 594 engine.
I can’t see any marks on it whatsoever.

I have looked at you video again and yes that is clear that you have a red marker in front of an arrow.
I tried to visualize this
1. Your red marker ( illustrate 10 degree btdc)
2. Red arrow in the aluminum cover
Question mark, is that also an arrow??

What I miss and don’t can find is the TDC

I've circled the timing marks in this photo. The tool brings the arrow and the line (on the right) out to the edge of the pulley so it is easier to line up with the line on the oil pump cover.

Stikkan---if you need to take the cover off the timing pulley to clean it out (it is part of the centrifugal oil-filter), it will only go back in one position as the bolt-holes are NOT equi-distant from each other. Having said that, it will help if you mark the pulley and the cover at the same place.
