New laptop

I'm looking for a new laptop, I've had loads of problems with my current one, and not worth repairing anymore.

I've got around £300 to spend, dont really need anything special, only thing I really need is built in Wireless, I dont really play any games on it, although, I will be getting Football Manager 2010...so would like to be able to play that on it.

I would ideally like one that I can look at before buying.

I ask because £300 is a bit low and your money would go much further with a desktop.

Yep, dont have room for a desktop, I've worked out I can afford upto £400, as I got paid for some work in August.

get one off flebay you will get more for your moneys worth on there but look out for NEW laptops not used

There is nothing wrong with either of the laptops you suggested spec wise. They are nicely priced and would suit your needs by what you said you needed earlier.

My only suggestion would be to veer away from Toshiba. Go for HP / Compaq.
For the same money you could buy this. Faster processor as its a dual core, better graphics card and everything else the toshiba one has. All built with hp / compaq quiality

Are HP / Compaq good? I've heard of HP more than Compaq...and Toshiba more than both when it comes to laptops.

Hp are better known but they are in effect the same company. Kinda like Fiat and Alfa Romeo.

Compaq being fiat and making the more budget yet still practical stuff and HP being Alfa making the more powerful and luxurious stuff

Either way, still the best make on the market

Hard to say, depends how demanding you are of it. If you like to multitask, with some serious programs like visual studio or photoshop then I would go for the 1st one off eBay. I say this becasue its dual core.

If you normally just wanna surf, listen to music, do a bit of homework on word / excel then deffinatley go for the second one, bigger screen more memory and the processor is very fast if your not doing too many strenuous things at once

Tend to just use the internet, bit of music, msn, use photoshop a little bit, but not very often at all. Only want to play one game on it really as well lol. But dont tend to do anything else while playing FM09.

Think I might take a trip down to PC World, Currys and Staples tomorrow and see if they have it in stock...also pop to Tesco...cant find it online, but they might be able to order it in.
