We are thinking of arranging the next New Forest Meet. It has been a while...............

The thinking is to tie up with the first Italian Car Day at Beaulieu on Sunday 22nd May. Mark spoke to Beaulieu today and they want all the cars in place by 10.00am, so we cannot really have a drive through the forest first. So, we are thinking of this:

Meet at the Green Dragon in Brook at 9.00am for a convoy to Beaulieu. Stay until after lunch (suggest a picnic - food prices are HORRENDOUS) and then go for a convoy drive, taking in Ornamental Drive and maybe a few other Forest favourites. Cost for Beaulieu is £10 per adult, £5 per child. Discounts are available if we have enough interest BUT we need 20 people and would have to book at least one week in advance.

Over to you - thoughts please

Sounds like a good plan.

Problem is I'm often tied up on a Sunday and won't know til nearer the time.

Great plan, count me in I will be able to make it this time round! Great idea on the picnic I know that the prices at Beaulieu will be very expensive.

It will also be good weather to try out that brook again, although with it being so hot at the moment I don't think it will be as high as last time!

I would also be interested in meeting any other members wanting to travel in convoy from the Portsmouth area.

Hi

Would love to come to another meet, last one we did was back in 2009 (y).
Need to double check work diary but if possible I'm in!:p

Hi
I'd like to join and see some old faces (and meet new ones of course :)), would you let me tag along in my GPA?

Mel, I'm 100% certain they would let you tag along even if you were on a skateboard. :)

I'm just sorry that I can't make it as I am away on holidays but I want to arrange something for later on so I hope that yellowLuigi is up for two meets in one year as his road trips are legendary. :slayer:

LOL - OF COURSE YOU ARE WELCOME!!!! You know we are not just 500 fans, Luigi shares the drive with Rosie (a Red Panda) and Sunset (a Progressive Black Punto Evo). We would love to bring them all along!!!! I also have a friend at work with a Panda and she may well come along too! We have posted this message on the general events tab too.........

Just the two? We were bouncing around the idea of arranging an Isle of Wight tour the other day in memory of the treasure hunt there in 2009........ Would you be up for co-organising?

It looks like there is plenty of interest here for 22nd May. Can you e-mail me the details of how to set up a thread that people can register their interest on?

experience has told me you are better off owning up and stating this will involve a car meet, a bored other half is not a happy other half and will spoil your enjoyment :)

two weekends ago i paid homage to the Evo Traingle with 3 friends, one had sold this to his wife by saying it was a weekend away at a nice hotel which was true but neglected to say it was driving some great drivers roads (which in fairness were not much fun as a passenger)

mrs w who was briefed did comment she would have liked a more sedate day, in reality she was the limiting factor on rate of progress not car or driver (at least if it was a track day and she hated it i could drop her off in the pits)

solution for our south wales trip to black mountains and brecon is to let em shop till thry drop in cardiff

on the other hand she may absolutely love it and if so you are a lucky man :)

I got around this problem on a recent trip away. Head off a scenic journey and get lost. Have your evening meal booked so that it involves making up time to get back so you haven't missed your booking.
1. No money wasted on a day's shopping :)
2. You get that spirited drive you were looking for :)

i prefer spirited driving on my own and also less on board ballast

She loves car shows and going to meets and the like. We went to Mitcar together last year and we're going to a few this year too. She suggested going to a classic American car show in July, too. She's definitely a keeper! :D
