Hello all,
A quick question that someone will hopefully know. When the car travels from its birth, via ship then transporter to the receiving dealer, does the car have any sort of protective coating/wax on it that gets cleaned off during the detailing process before handing it over to the customer?
The reason I ask is that I have my new black 500 that has been sitting in the dealers yard now for 9 days and they've stuck it under a tree where it is plastered in bird 'lime'. I have even taken photos to prove it because everything I read says you have to remove bird muck immediately as it will etch the paint. I'm really annoyed with them because I pointed it out to them two days ago and it still hasn't been moved or had it cleaned off.
I even rang Fiat trying to get T&Cs for the paint warranty as I'm damn sure they won't cover bird muck damage as it is basically negligence if the owner doesn't clean it off quick enough. (None of them could provide any T&C by the way which was surprising.)
However, a friend who just bought a Nissan from another branch of this same dealer said his Qashqai arrived with a coating on to protect it from the elements whilst in transit and once he got the car it was perfect even though when he first saw it, it was covered in dirt and snow etc.
Does anyone know this because it is realy worrying me that I'm going to have to reject it tomorrow when we're finally allowed to collect it. (It will have taken them 10 days from arrival until they will finally let us have it and we are cash buyers. Why so long? The car had not moved for at least 8 of those 10 days!)
