Well the bank holiday is upon us so time to get the spanners out.....
The little green monster will be alive again very soon,
I started the swap today (saturaday) and so far ive got the old 1.4 engine out and the new 2.0l engine in, Everything is in place and plumbed in!
Got to do the electrics tommorow then that it.. :slayer:
All on my own i may add and no engine hoist,
(Guess i will pay the price for brute force and ignorance in years to come)

So what has other people been up to this Bank Holiday????

i have never seen an engine that clean in my life...

did you buy the whole thing new?

Very nice Dazzo................George won't knows whats hit him going that fast!

Just one thing thought....Is their much of a weight difference, as if there is you might have to think suspension mods or you will go straight on when you mean to turn a corner.......if you see what I mean.

Ps - Stephanie my wife (Georges first "mummy" - she asked me to put that - thinks the big engine is wonderfull)

Re what I have been doing - check out the Enfield thread.

Hi all, just to let you know "George" is alive and kicking, had him fired up today after the awkward task of plumbing in the injection tank and pipes in a council garage, (not a lot of room), The electrics were easier than i thort and when they were done he struck up straight away......
A deffinate sense of acheivement was felt for sure...

Oh to answer a quirey or 2... The engine is that clean as i spent maybe 20hrs doing so over a space of 3 weeks.... Its a 100k engine and it was as dirty as a neglected Tipo usually is....YUK...

you want to be thinking brake mods as well as suspension. How are you doing drive shafts/hubs? Got GT hubs/shafts?

Hellcat,
No need to worry on that score...I made sure i rescued all the things i needed from the Blue 2.0 SLX i was breaking.... Also done a rear disc conversion from a sedi a while back, So basically the whole front end is now 2.0... All the 1.4 bits are now surplus.... I may be Dumb but when safety is involved NO corner cutting at all, .....
Even got new discs and pads up front just to make sure, No 240mm discs in sight...
Plus all new bushes and track rods, Done all the belts and bearings too while i was at it....... (y)

WoW!

A great job dazzo, congratulations and well done! I'd love to try a project like that but just don't have the skillz, time or money! I'd like a 2ltr conversion for my 1.8 DGT SX. Maybe one day......

Will be there for deffo this year, Stanford Hall ....So Beware
Old georgy is coming on a treat now to those who are intrested....
The engine is all ok now, Well kind of..
Apart from when i press the clutch there is a wierd noise....

Also welded a vent into the wing to allow extra cold air flow for the filter..

won't that mirror stuff reflect heat? a little... or just peel off onto the engine?

is that 065 battery the suggested size for the 2.0 engine?... i thought it was 063

Hey Tony,
The vinyl wont reflect the heat as far as i know, but will reflect sunlight, Also it wont peel off as i did this to a previous car i had and didnt cause any problems at all.....
The battery may be wrong i aint got a clue, Thats the battery that came off of the 2.0 SLX that the engine came out of....

I have nothing to compare it with apart from the Halfords guide which is highly infalable. I suppose as long as it is big enough and holds a charge it'll do the job.
