Right, as some of you may know, my car was bumped when it was only a couple of weeks old, anyhow, I've never been happy with the repair, and over time a few faults have become apparent.

They are (with pics):

1) Cracked joint between sill and wing.

2) A small rust spot on the wing.

3) Scuttle panel lifting, this is actually along the full width of the screen, although the pic only shows one end.

4) Paint peeling away on rear quarter, next to rubstrip.

Right, so whats the point of this post?

Well what do you reckon, have a got good grounds for my complaint? Or am I being picky?

I know they are going to say the rust is a stone chip, but it really doesn't look like that, and other stone chips on the car haven't rusted due to the car being galvanised.

Also the paint peeling they have previously tried to blame on the trim moving, but since they fitted it, surely thats their fault even it if that is the case?

Any advice/comments appreciated. :)

James

PS. Sorry about the size of the pics, but I wanted to make sure you could see what I was on about!

Thanks for the replies!

Yes, it was an insurance claim, I claimed on the other guys insurance, BUT, I took it to my own preffered repairer.

Basically, I took it to the bodyshop with probably the best rep in the area, the are the local approved Merc/BMW/Jag repairer, and have won a stack of awards.

Funnily enough, their first repsonse was 'take it up with your insurer', but after a bit of earache they have agreed to look again at my car.

To be honest, I wish I'd just gone with who the insurance company wanted me to go to, I feel such a mug now :(

I refused to accept the focus four times after a major accident.
The insurance company sent an engineer out twice and he agreed with me.
In the end I refused to accept the vehicle and insisted the insurance engineer signed for the car. Unfortunately in my opinion it's still not perfect but it's much better
What I'm trying to say is get the backing of the insurance company and it saves you a lot of grief.
In the future remember, until the garage get a signature of satisfaction, they don't get paid.

what a crap attitude "take it up with your insurer* they did the job, its their responsibility to get it right, sometimes it does take a while for things to show and then you can see what kind of a job they did do on it :(

Crap is their attitude for sure! I think in hindsight (wonderfull thing), they are used to dealings with BMW's etc, and see my car as being cheap and not worth the same effort

but they have been paid to do a job and they obviously havent done it properly plus with it being an insurance job they would have added on some extra er probably add it on to the labour charges.

They need to sort it out and your insurance should make them sort it out

Funny you say that...

I suspect this happened, can't really say that though as I have no proof ;)

it happens all the time - i dont know if you could complain to consumer rights, which is basically you have paid for something and it hasnt lived up to its life expectancy - i know this happens in retail but wouldnt know where you would stand with this situation....

Well...

Just been to see them, and they have conceded that the repair is not upto scratch :D

So it going back in while I'm on holiday first week in January, so we'll see
