I have a 1978 Fiat x 1/9 and it has a Weber Carburetor and when I start it it has a problem with the Choke, Any suggestions on how to adjust the Choke so it will Idle or better yet, Can I just use a Manual Choke that I can replace the automatic choke with?
Can I do this?

In the old days there were several companies advertising manual choke conversions, but less so now.
You haven't said what the problem is, often it is a case of slackening the three screws on the round drum and adjusting it clock or anticlock wise with air filter off so you can see what the choke flap does as you adjust it. Remember on many , you have to press the accelerator once to allow the flap to operate/flip on.
If it is water controlled then make sure no air locks in water pipes, if electrically controlled then check power is getting to the heating element, in both types make sure the bimetal spring is engaged with choke flap and is activating with the temperature change.
I usually check car from cold and make sure choke flap goes over correctly and then as it warms up check again that it comes off, so not choking carb.
If you thing it is overchoking you can adjust by moving the drum with the three screws.
If it starts OK from cold but not enough revs then sometimes there is a screw on the choke control where it engages with the throttle spindle stop or in some cases it is a bent rod that you either bend more or straighten to alter idles speed when on choke.
If you are going to alter the drum position it is a good idea to mark where it is at present. Often the have two pointers which are the base setting.:)

A 78 car shouldn't have automatic choke carb, that was only added onto 1500 cars. 79 on. Has it been modified?
