Hi,
I have a 899cc Cinq and ive got a big problem with the annoying injection light. One minute the light is off and the next its back on.

All I know about this light is that when it is on it put a limiter on the engine so it doesn't rev very high. This is strating to get really annoying as it stops me from having any fun.

Please could someone tell me what it is and where i can find the sensor for it. Its not a mechanical problem with the engine as I have had that checked and everything is fine.

Please Help!

i don't know what sensor would cause it to not rev very high (TDC?). Get out your yellow pages and find somewhere that can run a dianostic on the ECU, it should have logged error codes and tell you which sensor has gone nuts.

Should cost around £15 to do

There is not just one sensor that can cause the light to come on. When the light comes on the management puts itself into safe mode and restricts the maximum revs due to danger to the engine with incorrect fuelling.

It could be the lambda, MAP sensor or TPS.

Cheers

D

Could vary...depends if the fault is caused by certain burn conditions or not.

Thanks for all your help and I have just sorted it out myself (Woohoo). For all of you that wants to know how I did it then here goes.

I read in the hanyes manual that the lamda sensor is located on the back of the engine on the downpipe and it tells you not to touch it unless you are fitting a new one. It also tells you not to touch the sensor at all as the slightest knock can break it.

I thought I had nothing to loose so I took it off and gently scraped all the s**t off with a wire brush. I carefully put it back in and strated the engine. Hey presto the light went off and I got my revs back. Just to make sure, I took it for a spin down the dual carriageway and sure enough, I had no probs.

Like you lot said, there are other things that can make it go into safe mode but I think doing that worked fine for me.

Thanks for you replys!!
