Oh ok, a newspaper said it so it must be true, as they are the bastion of trustworthy, unbiased media aren't they lol :)

How much of their advertising revenue comes from the local branches of the big chains, as if it's anything like my local rag it bet it's a fair old wedge

I'm not saying all indenpendants are without fault, just that I would rather use one that I know and trust over a chain.

Your right about one thing though, training for the big chains must cost them loads, repeat after me ....ooohhh, ouch, sorry love you need a new one at 50% higher than the going rate, and we also checked your brakes.....lol

I have wanli 88w xl tyres on my car. They have been brilliant. Had 7mm on the front when I bought the car and I have done 21k since. Still 3mm left. Dependant on road surface in 2nd or 3rd gear accelerating in the wet they will loose grip but so long as your not daft they are no problem. Road noise is acceptable too.

Thanks for your interesting `review’ – I wasted no time in reading it.

Do you think there maybe an association between your vibration problems & one of the worst budget tyres on the market?

.

Errrr.....In your rush to retaliate I think you have missed something. Take another look at the link. Did the paper conduct the survey? Its not as you suggest the paper that is making the claim, they are merely reporting the findings of the TS survey who are making the claim :D

Are you suggesting the findings of the survey are meaningless and should be ignored in favour of the insignificant comments and opinions of an insignificant person in a insiignificant forum?

Agreed that wanli have a bad write up but that is regarding the s1088 tyres which are unbelievably awful. The s1063 tyres that I have fitted actually have a pretty good write up and lots of positive reviews. With regards to my vibration problem I have had the tyres checked for distortion and they came back as perfect so I can rule that out. Incidentally with tyre distortion you usually get vibration at less that 30mph. Over that they tyre centrifugally centred and the flat spots are skipped. My problem is at 60mph+ on acceleration. Thanks for your kind words though. (y)

If the results were straight from Trading Standards then id pay more attention, i regularly provide information to local newspapers as part of my job, more often than not it gets amended to suit whatever agenda they have at the time.

I am however speculating and this is getting a bit off topic now, ill agree to disagree (y)

As with anything there'll be good and bad with both. They will be some good back street or lets say independent traders, but it doesn't mean they are all the same, the issue is finding a good one and sticking to it, just because an independent garage is cheap it doesn't mean the will be rubbish. Big names are just as likely to provide poor service, it depends on the employee and how their manager deals with them if they can't be bothered to do things correctly.

I didn't have a puncture after all, the nail hadn't gone far enough in, so it didn't even cost me the £10 to have it repaired.

Good to find out whether the Wanli tyres are good for the price or not. I doubt they are much better than my Rotalla's as it's in the wet when mine can be dodgy, so I have to go easy when cornering in the wet. I've read some good stuff on here about the Toyo (think that's right), and wondered if the Wanli were as good, or if it was just that people who'd had problems hadn't commented.
