Some low life scum bag decided to break in to my car the other night to steal the only thing in my clean, well kept car, my fluffy gloves! The only thing on show in the door pocket.

The car is a 2001 Punto MK2, 1.2 8v standard version.

But they couldn't just smash my window, they decided to bend the top of the door down away from the car and reach in to open the lock.

I can't afford to lose my no claims bonus so I have to find myself a new door, get it sprayed and fitted. I've been phoning around all the local salvage yards with no luck at all. Alternatively, anyone know any where in the North London area (Enfield) that I might find a replacement door? I'm willing to travel reasonable distances.

Anyone know what Fiat will charge me for a new passenger door? Don't need the window glass or the interior trim or anything.

Also, any idea if the paint requires being baked after being sprayed to harden, or not?

Cheapness is the key, i'm a student with no money and it's going to cost me months to pay for i expect!

Any help please, my car is held together with gaffer tape!

Thanks,
Mike

The door has a fold/kink/crease in it down near the wing mirror where it has bent. I suppose bending it back in is a good short term solution but need to get a new one ideally.

if you look in yellow pages, under motor factors, you will see some that sell paint and pannels, a new door from them will be cheeper, you can also by just the outer skin and have the door re-skined, also these sometimes come up on ebay,

Have you tried a local breakers?

Yea phoned around, only found a damaged one so far though, I'm going to have to keep phoning I guess.

Have you looked into having it repaired by a professional panel-beater?

My dad suggested it, but both thought that it would be pretty unsavable? Or if not, cost about the same as a new door?

It's so depressing, what with christmas, road tax coming up, insane insurance coming up, etc and now this happens!

I'm sure something will turn up for me though!
