Surprised myself with this little run I had...

I hadnt thrashed the Cinq in ages but I was well shocked when I started to get the needle towards the end of the speedo!! :D

Seems that love and attention will get you further than big mods... I have used some redex recently, maybe that has helped??? ;)

No mods at all, a boot full of ICE though!

Redex is a fuel injector cleaner!

It's surprising how they just keep on going, innit?

People have said to me that they'd be scared to do more than 80 in a car like mine, but they just squat down and keep going as the speed builds. If it wasn't for the gearing, I think you could safely cruise at 100 in a suitably suspended and braked cento.
They feel far more secure at speed than many other cars, especially mk2 Micras. I shudder to think what braking and a high speed lane change would do to them[xx(]

My cinq feels horrible at high speeds, specialy around corners. feels like its floating on motorway turns at 80+... quite scary.. although i got it upto 90 with no prob but a turn came up so i slowed down lol.

think when its lowered and the suspention is "tighter" then ital be great at handling high speeds.

I love going quick in mine, IMO they're really stable at full speed, that day is the quickest I've thrashed mine, I honestly dont think the speedo is 100% accurate but it could have gone a little quicker too, it was at 118 when I told my mate to get his camera out, by then I had to slow down for the cars in front. Maybe on a hill I could top an indicated 120mph!

Best thing about small cars too is that they always feel like your going about 50% faster than you are too. hehe.

Smurfhead - would trade as Gaz but bit confusing with another guy with the same car on here with the same name. lol

my wheel balancing is out so once i hit 75 the steering wheel vibrates like hell[:(!]

surfin fella i had that before i put my sei wheels on! it sorted the problem right out! that vibrating is bloody annoying! u have numb hands when your done and if youv got any braclets on ur propa gingling all over the place!!! u want some sei wheels for 80 squid?

and i may have both red wing mirrors for you!

whos ur daddy!???

I thought vibrating at speed was caused by poor wheel balancing usually.

Your poor little engine at that speed btw!

Ah...My 899cc Cinq's vibration got worse when I put the alloys on, that was with four new tyres too!

Hmm, Alloys are 13x5.5", small!

I actually knew the tracking was out anyway, didnt know that could have an effect!

Bad balancing causes a weight difference on the outside of the wheel. Having this weight difference means that you created a vibration - maybe resonance (forced vibration at natural frequency - and hence it won't feel right!

Trouble is, most alloys have a lot less metal than a standard steel wheel and hence although they are stronger per unit cubed, they are more easily damaged. Putting larger ones means it is even easier to damage to them.

Tracking; does affect but I can't think of the science of why.

Your vibrator in your phone works as having a mass offset from the centre and hence having a slight difference in mass over the wheel can cause big vibration!
