I have noticed than when one of my rear wheels (possibly left) is moving there is a slight whistle noise that quickens when the speed increases, what could this be?
Hey,
do you by any chance have back brake pads ??
because this just happened to me after my service
and i had new brake pads,
i called the AA out as i was driving and they came and told me that my heat shield was too close to my brake pad wich was making a squeeking/whistling noise and it got worse as i was speeding up,
i suggest if you are a part of any brake down recovery, go for a drive and call them out,
its worth it all they did was bent it back free of charge
Last year mate I ended up taking off one of the rear hubs for something else and straight away I was glad I did...virtually no grease on there at all either in/on or near the bearings.
Its new nuts(!) time if you do but if your car is anything like mine it maybe worth a look?
I repacked both sides with fresh Silkolene (from me bike) hight temperature grease and fingers crossed its been fine ever since.
You could of course just pop off the little bearing cap and plop a load of grease in there and hope its gets to the bearing but imho its worth pulling it apart and doing it right.
Or fitting new bearings? I've not come across a bearing that was designed to be serviced for a good few years outside a classic Ducati headstock or a pushbike.
