General my project seicento van

it will only have my tool box in the back mate and odd bits and bobs want it to be an everyday car/van and its probs only me that thinks this but i think they look good as a van and you dont see many about.
i just dont no what it will go like with a 1.2 16v in it i no there a light car
you think it will be as fast as a 1.6 zetec s fiesta or a mg zr?

ok mate thanks for the advise you have saved me money work and time :D.
my mate at college has a saxo vtr and took the **** big time when he saw it you think it will be faster than his when its done?

so keep the standerd sie box? can you not get more top end with the 6 speed?

Yes keep standard box. No you wont get anything top end, think there has been MOT problems with some members cars with 6 speed boxes also (it catches on some of the body or something like that IIRC) rendering it a fail.

Have a look on forum its very well documented why the six speed box is not as beneficial as the standard 5

keep up yes, pull away from and leave behind probably not, they will probably have you top end as well.

They maybe might leave you in the corners as you will be fairly nose heavy, and no weight in the back also, in fact you might only be any good on a straight flat road in all honesty but we will see

as above, but i am guessing the saxo isnt standard either because they all arent

yes my 6speed box also caught on full lock, touched the tyre (175/60/13 yokies, and yes they are 60's not 50's) only noticable when reversing, as its the only time i use full lock

Don't think the weight difference in a 1108 and a 1242 will causes the handling issues your are describing.

am sure i saw sumwere that th 1.6 marea injectors and throttle body fit.
if you all think it ill be to lite on the back and i might take my board out of the back and make it out of heavy board.

surely there would be some effect in handling in a car that will be stripped of everything barring a toolbox??

I mean if a 1.1 mpi with the exact same strpping done to it, the handling compared to a 1242 mpi would be identical. Don't think the difference is big enough for us to feel it let alone worry about it :)

Really there are that many 1108 to 1242 spi swap, don't think handling is/was ever an issue.

whats best conversion do you have to aulter compresion if you turbo the 1.2 16v could you use any turbo like a low blow turbo off a mk3 deisel astra i have one kicking around in the shed cheers steve

The 6 speed box will give no difference stick with whats currently in the car, its all over the forum why the 6 speed gives no advantage over the 5

My 6 speed is far better than my 5 speed (y)

I did have massive scrubbing of the wheels on the box, but thats due more to the 14/6 wheels i run. Sorting it out wasn't too hard.

I'd not go back to a 5 speed if at all possible, its far easier to keep it on the boil :D

As for motorway speeds and fuel, yes, at the speeds i do, it sits at about 4000-4200 rpm, but i return 48 mpg on long runs:eek: :p

Cheers,

Kristian
