General My petrol cap fell off

Putting gas in my abarth today and the cover fell off leaving the petrol cap exposed. Checked it out and it looks like it has been repaired before. Superglued the broken plastic bit back together......but was a real bitch to get back on. Any one else had this happen to them?

Quite a few. You have to move the flap out carefully each time as it has to move and slide at the hinge. Lub the hinge whenever you get the chance. Mine's still there after 5 years. Just once too forceful and it's gone. Replacing the flap completely is awkward but the biggest pain is spraying the flap the right colour

ah yeh, you have to be very careful sliding the cap lid in and out carefully each time, but ive had a few near misses believe me, touch wood, as ive been doing so often lately, nothing else goes wrong with the car, unfortunately, im no good a self mechanic like decks and t1586 or rrope and some other guys are on this forum.

replacing flap is 5 min job simply pull back wheel arch (its only cloth) & undo the 2 x 10mm nuts to remove flap assembly,refit in reverse order.Most bodyshops will respray for £25-35.
