Introduction

Not quite the coupe you would be expecting on a Fiat Forum...

Rover 218vvc Coupe.

Bought as a replacement for the shedabravslow... sorry, BravoBeastie... after it died a death and has blown its headgasket (i think). Decided it wasnt worth me fixing and so Kaylorz is now looking to be the new owner.

However, this thread isnt about the bravo, its about the Rover :D Awsome car imo. Ive wanted one for years and wish I hadnt put it off so long. Only regret is that I didnt get one with a Honda engine rather than the K-series as its already caused me some grief but seems to have ironed itself out and is running spot on now

Its got full tan leather interior with pilarless doors and fully removable twin sunroof panel thing so its basically a convertible in the summer :D Awsome.

Bodywork is very good. few little dints and marks here and there but no damage or scrapes etc. Given it a mild polish up today with the rotary polisher and its brought the paintwork back gorgeous. Still a few swirls here and there but nothing that another going over wont cure. Just want to wait untill its not so damp

Anyway, thats about it really! Fook knows how long ill keep it. Already got ideas to sell it now and get a honda engined coupe instead just to be on the safe side (y) Will see :)
I was looking at getting a rover 216 coupe before i got my bravo but the insurance wouldnt let me lol :(

Yours is a very nice coupe, Look after it :)

Yeah its strange how stupidly high these are on the insurance groups. 216 is 14 and the 218 and 220 are 15. Im sure the 220T is something stupidly high too.

Its probably down to the fact they are so easy to break into. Locked the keys in the other night whilst at work. Got out to de-ice the windscreen and the door locked behind me :bang:... No worries, managed to unlock the door within 5 mins without doing any damage atall (y)... or should that be (n)

Its a coupe aswell, class them as sporty cars, As i wanted a civic coupe aswell but that was a no no lol, The 216 is the one with the Honda engine right ? At the end of the day if scum want to get into your car they will, No matter what alarm you got or what car you got etc etc :(

Bravo_Sean

I like them, they mod up pretty well, lots of parts availible to hide the rover badges!

You're right about the honda engines being that bit better, they cost that much more though.

thats a very nice looking Rover, sure the K series has the hg problems, but doesnt someone do a modified gasket to help cure it? Ignore everyone, youve a nice coupe thats at least different from the norm. Whats wrong with looking like an old mans car, better than driving a chav Punto:)LOL!

The 1.8s suffer from head gasket failures no more than any of the other k-series engines. the 1.4, 1.6 also suffer from them. The 2.0 and 2.0t engines are the t-series.

The honda engine cars dont go for anymore than the k-series, mainly becuase the honda engined ones only come with the early spec dash (not as nice) and are older cars in general so have less value.

I think the old man image for rovers is stupid. Yes alot of old people drive them but you get more old people driving cinquecentos and seicentos than you do younger people :p

Not my cup of tea

Although from pics it looks very well looked after and is in the best colour :)

Rover 25 hasnt got an old mans image - its depends which rove it is. IMO the older ones do anyway.

If you want a number for getting the HG sorted I know an MG specialist in barnsely that sorted out my borthers MGF when he had it and he is well known - it might be a useful number to have even if you dont use him
